JACKSONVILLE, Fla., July 06, 2020 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Even as the Linda Berry Stein Higher of Fine Arts celebrates its threescoreth year, it continues to focus on the future by creating 2 schools inside the higher, Jacksonville Academy Provost Dr. Chris Sapienza announced today.

The Stein College volition now contain the School of Performing Arts and the Schoolhouse of Art & Design to better prepare students to realize their full artistic, intellectual and professional person potential.

"This decision helps sustain our long and successful traditional fine arts education history and remain a relevant, contemporary and forward-looking institution," Dr. Sapienza said. "It is another step in our trajectory to also become a premier educational institution."

Both the School of Performing Arts and the School of Fine art & Design will be led by Stein College Dean Tim Snyder.

"This determination is an example of amplifying our assets," Dean Snyder said. "This will expand our intra-collegiate relationships between departments such as Engineering and Theater and Moving-picture show and Business and Music while edifice upon our long-continuing excellence and collaboration between Music, Theater and Trip the light fantastic toe."

Many of the programs within the School of Art & Design, for example, will occupy infinite in the University's currently developing STEAM (Scientific discipline, Technology, Arts & Mathematics) Institute. Students in graphic design, animation, motion picture, and media arts will be able to learn and interact with their peers in technology, physics, and information science.

The STEAM Plant volition offer Visual & Media Arts learning spaces including an Animation Studio, Film & Media Studio, Film Edit Suite, a Virtual Reality Studio and Media Screening facility.

This volition add to the existing Schoolhouse of Performing Arts spaces that include Terry Concert Hall, Swisher Theater, Brest Dance Pavilion and the Phillips Fine Arts Building, which houses the Alexander Brest Gallery and Blackbox Theater.

The School of Performing Arts will offer undergraduate degrees in Dance, Music with concentrations in Song, Instrumental and Piano Performance, Limerick and Jazz/Commercial Music, Music Educational activity, Music Business organisation, Music Theatre and Theatre Arts and a graduate plan (master of fine arts) in Choreography.

The School of Art & Blueprint will offer undergraduate degrees in Animation, Art, Art History, Ceramics, Motion-picture show, Glass, Graphic Design, Analogy, Photography and Sculpture and a graduate program (master of fine arts) in Visual Arts.

The Stein College has offered near six decades of world-renowned and award-winning arts teaching since being established past the late Chancellor Emerita Dr. Frances Kinne. In 2018, the University named the higher the Linda Berry Stein College of Fine Arts in recognition of one of the largest gifts the institution had ever received, a multi-year, multi-million dollar contribution from alumna Linda Berry Stein '69 and her husband, David Stein.
